Welcome to season 2017 at Winnacott Kats Junior Football Club. On the back of a very successful 2016 season at the Kats, I look forward to another great year of footy in 2017.
On behalf of everyone at the Kats I would like to welcome all new members for 2017. To our returning players, it's great to see so many of you back.
The very popular NAB Auskick program returns to the Kats for another year, with Auskick sessions for players in Pre Primary to Year 2 being held on Friday nights (early in the season only) and Sunday mornings. Great fun to be had by players and parents alike.
The 2017 East Fremantle District Junior Football competition is for players in Year 3 - Year 7. Teams will play against other East Fremantle District based clubs in the same age group. Games are played both home and away. Year 3 - Year 6 games are played on a Sunday morning and Year 7 games are played on a Saturday morning. This is a great competition that allows the Kats younger players to develop their skills, whilst enjoying the great game that is AFL footy with their friends.
In 2017 the Year 8's and 9's join the cross district Fremantle Conference competition. This is a competition for players in Years 8 - 12 playing for clubs based in both the East Fremantle and South Fremantle districts.
The Winnacott Kats will be represented in the Fremantle Conference by a team in Year 9, 10 and 11 and for the first time since season 2013 a Year 12 team. The Fremantle Conference is sure to provide some great football throughout the season.
As always the Kats Committee have been busy during the off season attending meetings, ordering equipment and stock, setting up the online registration system and finalising Auskick and social/fundraising event dates for the year ahead.
Our club relies on the dedication of its volunteers and thanks all of them for their time and effort in helping to make the Winnacott Kats the great club that it is. New volunteers are always welcome both at a club and team level and we would encourage anyone interested in assisting at the club to contact us.
For more information about the Winnacott Kats or just to keep informed of the latest club news and events be sure to explore the website further www.kats.org.au or visit either the Winnacott Kats Auskick face book page or the Winnacott Kats Junior Football Club Inc face book page.
I look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new members during the 2017 season.
Good luck to all Kats teams for 2017 and I hope you all enjoy a great year of football.
